Between 2023 and 2024, the population of the Greater West of England increased by 1.28%. This compares with an increase of 1.19% in England and 1.22% in England excluding London.

Across areas within the Greater West of England, percentage change between 2023 and 2024 ranged from 0.16% in Cotswold to 2.4% in Tewkesbury (both Gloucestershire). The largest increases were recorded in Tewkesbury (2.41%), South Gloucestershire (1.96%), Gloucester (1.68%), Bristol (1.65%) and Swindon (1.52%).

Across areas within the Greater West of England, percentage change over this five-year period ranged from 1.91% in Cheltenham (Gloucestershire) to 9.97% in Tewkesbury, with higher increases also recorded in South Gloucestershire (7.65%) and Stroud (Gloucestershire) (5.76%).
