This data insight describes the accessibility of key public services in the Greater West of England. The data draw on travel time statistics published by the Department for Transport (DfT), measuring average journey times and the accessibility of key services by different modes of transport, including car, and public transport or walking.
The statistics are derived from analysis of transport networks and public transport timetables combined with population data. The analysis here also includes estimates of transport-related social exclusion from a tool published by Transport for the North (TfN).
The Greater West of England is defined here as Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, Gloucestershire, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon and Wiltshire.
The DfT dataset was last published for 2019 and has since been discontinued.
